Things to be Ready for in Fall Baseball
Some of these items are already covered in the fall baseball rules (that are also listed on this website) but here are some other things to look over.
1. Team managers are asked to produce a batting order and a line up card for the first game of the season. WHEN PRODUCING THIS "INITIAL LINEUP CARD" PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE PLAYER'S FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, AND IF POSSIBLE, UNIFORM NUMBER. This batting order will be followed throughout the season allowing different batters to be in the top, bottom and middle portions of the lineup. For example if the number 5 batter in the order makes the final out of the game in a team's first game of the season then the number six batter will be the leadoff batter in the team's second game. Prior to each game each manager will be given a piece of paper with the team batting order on it.
2. Players shall play at least two innings defensively each game. Managers should do their best to make sure that players do not sit consecutive half innings defensively. Pitchers are limited to two innings per game. One pitch constitutes an inning.
3. For games at Elm Street there is to be no infield practice before game. Teams will be allowed to use the outfield for pregame warmups. Please remind players and coaches to not stand on the foul lines when warming up. The infield at Elm Street, as of the first game of fall baseball, will be 19 days old. The infield will play good but in order for it to be strong going in to next season it is best if we limit the traffic on it as much as possible. Also, there are no batting cages at Elm Street at this time.
Teams may utilize the infield at both Perkins fields for warmups prior to the games. The field should be cleared by 5:15 so that we can begin the game at 5:20.
4. We will do our best to make up rained out games as we work our way through the fall season.
